Honoring Marty
Join us for a celebration of life and scattering at sea to honor Marty.All guests are invited to both the Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 29th, and a Scattering at Sea on Sunday, August 30th. Your co-hosts for these events are Pauline Shulman and Robin Rose.The Celebration of Life will be at the clubhouse at De Anza Mobile Home Park, near Natural Bridges State Beach. We will begin with a full buffet lunch, followed by remarks and shared memories.The scatter at sea will be aboard the Chardonnay II sailing yacht at 790 Mariner Park Way, Santa Cruz.Please RSVP by August 15 via Evite.

Visitor parking is available near the check-in office at 790 Mariner Park Way. Parking costs $2 per hour; allow approximately three hours for parking, check-in, boarding, and disembarking. Pay stations accept cash, quarters, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Display the parking slip on your dashboard.Please arrive early, as there are only two pay stations. Carpooling is encouraged.Check-In and Boarding
Check-in begins 30 minutes before departure. Each adult must sign in personally and sign for any minors in their care. Each passenger will receive a boarding pass and must keep it until boarding.After check-in, remain on the landing outside the office until a crew member leads the group to the boat at Dock FF.Important Requirements
All passengers, including children of any age, must be included in the reservation.Children age 12 and under who weigh 90 pounds or less must wear a life jacket.Please provide the charter company with the age and weight of each child in your group before sailing.All passengers age 18 and older must bring a photo ID.No food is permitted aboard.Please see the Chardonnay Sailing Charters website for further information, including maps and parking details. ABOUT MARTY SHULMAN
Marty
Marty enjoyed life to the fullest. Adventurous and fun-loving, he first spotted his high school sweetheart across a playground and knew instantly she was the one. He and his wife Shirlene went on to raise four children, and Marty adored the three grandsons and four great-grandchildren who followed. He kept a wide circle of friends, some dating back to kindergarten and many more from his high school years. A great cook, he loved nothing more than entertaining a full house.Marty's sense of adventure was pure Hemingway. He hunted caribou in Alaska, sailed through a hurricane off Mexico, and landed a marlin just for the sport of it. For a couple of years, he even lived aboard a boat and fished for salmon for a living, always with friends along for the ride.He was a techie at heart, in work and in life. As a boy, he was captivated by Dick Tracy's two-way radio wristwatch, and as an adult, an early adopter of smartwatches, from the Pebble to the Apple Watch. In his later years, he filled his home with smart devices that helped him live independently.Marty was a curious mix of sociable and solitary, and he was determined to live out his days at home. Over time, he built a small circle of devoted caregivers and loving friends who brightened his days and made that possible. He lived to 92 and said he'd had a good life. Even as advancing age brought real challenges, he often remarked that the joy of family and friends made the struggle worthwhile.
